This is what I made for week 8 of the Great British Bake Off. which was all about advanced dough, the stuff that has butter, eggs and sugar in it. So I made these Chelsea buns!
Another attempt to kill two birds with one stone with a bake that would fulfil the GBBO week 6 theme and also satiate the mini bake off competition / monster that is being held at work. However, the work bake off also had a rule – it had to incorporate honeycomb
Week 3 and it was bread week, so take a peek at my lovely rye, ale and oat baps. perfect with meats and cheeses.
I love a doughnut. A proper jam doughnut. Fried and covered in sugar and filled with lashings of the sweet stuff. Yes, these babies take time, but they are so worth it!
I ate a very disappointing cinnamon roll last week and realised I had to put this right and make my own! These cinnamon buns are the classic Scandinavian kanelbullars – enriched dough flavoured with cardamom and then filled with a cinnamon enriched butter.
This week I have tried to tackle the Great British Bake Off technical challenge – the apricot couronne, but create individual not-so-mini versions!
Carrying on this little series of posts, inspired by the Great British Bake off, this week I took to making bread – brioche in fact. this enriched dough filled with chocolate and pistachios is my take on a pain au chocolat
This weekend I attempted to make David Chang’s Momofuku pork buns. Whilst not a completely new trend and a cult dish at his restaurants I’ve wanted to make them for a while but never really got my backside into gear and actually made them. Bread, pork belly, sauce. What’s not to love!?
I wanted to get my bake on and attempt to make the “perfect” burger bun. Too many times have I eaten a burger where the bread hasn’t been strong enough to stand up to the filling, disintegrating into mush and the whole burger turning into a sloppy mess – is there such thing as the perfect bun?
This is one of the simplest, quickest yet tastiest things I make on a regular basis. It contains three of the best foods known to humanity.
You need this in your life!
